Ar an leathanach seo
- There are potatoes growing in our land. We usually sow them in drills but if the land has not been ploughed before we set them in ridges. Before we sow the old potatoes we cut them in two parts and each part is called a sgiollan. Then lime or sand is put on them especially on the cut part.
Then manure is put in the drills or ridges and they are closed in again with a spade or plough. When the stalks appear above the ground they are "risen to" and them the garden is about to bloom it is sprayed to protect them from the blight.
The potatoes are dug in the beginning of September. Every one in the house helps to pick them. Then they are stored away in pits. The pit is usually made in the garden and sometimes the potatoes are stored in a house(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
