Ar an leathanach seo
- The house in olden times especially belonging to the poor people were generally called Mudwallcabins.
The reason why they got this name, was that the walls were built of mud and scraws. The roof was first started with wooden rafters then scrawed and afterwards thatched with straw.
They had the bed in the kitchen, or what is generally called a wad of straw in the corner. The used to have the fire at the gable wall, known as a fire in the hearth. The front of the chimney was made of mortar and stone. When the chimney was built as far as the roof, t'was finished with clay and wattles.
