Ar an leathanach seo
- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)ploughs or digs the land and makes ridges. My mother cuts the potatoes into slits and my father sticks them with a spade or steven. If he is setting with the steven I do the "goggling", that is to throw the slits into the holes. Then they are smothered or covered in with a block.
After a few days he puts manure on the ridges and puts clay over that. When the young stalks appear he covers them again with clay. This is called moulding. In June they are sprayed with bluestone and lime or washing-soda. In October they are dug and put in a hole. The hole is first covered with rushes and then with clay.
