- In the olden times the old people had many old sayings and customs about every holiday and feastdays and they had many beautiful prayers.
There is an old building all broken down. It is called the Strand barracks it is not in Thomond Gate, and it is an old custom for to take a bit of stone from this barrack on New Year's day and it is said that you would have luck for the year if you kept it.
