About forty years ago lived Mr John Blood in Ballykilty.

    (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)
a terrific squall of wind arose, and completely rustled all the branches of the trees. Salmon took no notice of this and proceeded with his business. Then light appeared suddenly. Salmon put it down to lightning, and continued at his work. When he was in the act of putting the dead rabbit in his pocket an apparition of a lady passed him in the wind. Salmon recognised her. It was the ghost of Mrs Blood who had died some months previously. Salmon took his departure as surreptitiously as he could.
About forty years ago there was an arbutus tree growing in Ballykilty wood. It cannot now be seen.
