Cáit Ní Cuirc lived in Quin Abbey. The Abbey is a short distance from the public road. As each funeral approached the Abbey burial ground, Cáit proceeded to meet it Caoining as she did so. She then accompanied the remains to the Abbey, Caoining all the time.

After the burial Cáit would turn to one of the mourners, saying
"Cé tá marbh"
Cáit lived on what she got for Caoining.
It must be a very long time since she lived in the Abbey, but I heard the old people telling the above story as if they had heard it from the people that preceded them.
I heard these stories from the old people of Quin Co Clare.
