They proceeded to raise the stone, when suddenly the weird hoot of an owl was heard. Instinctively the men dropped their tools and without a word walked towards the bottle of whiskey. They partook of sufficient to make them indifferent to fear. They continued their work and were succeeding in unearthing the stone when a large he goat was seen approaching them. He had tremendous horns and after walking two or three times around the bush he disappeared in the direction of the river that flows by the abbey.
