  1. there are forts in my district. There is one nearly in every townland. the forts were built by the Danes centuries ago. There remains are still to be seen. The Danes erected them to act as fortifications in the time of battle with the Irish. The way they were built is first there was a round mound of earth raise up with stone foundation. Then three walls were built all round the mound. The first are always erected on the tops of hills facing each other. Some people believe that the fairies live in them
