"Selling and Buying"
Shops were not so plentiful long ago as they are now.The people had to go to the town for everything they wanted .There were only two ,or three shops in every village .After Mass on Sunday ,the people used to sell apples ,oranges and such things.By degrees the people got richer ,and they set up shops ,and in that way they became very plentiful in the country.
Money was scarce long ago .The people had to manage without it ,as best they could.They used to borrow everything they wanted ,from their neighbours,and they would repay by giving a pair of horses for a day,or a day or a day sowing potatoes and so on.
Long ago the people thought certain days unlucky, If they were removing from one house to another ,they would go on a Friday so that they would have luck.They would not get married(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
