A Local Story

In this locality there was a man who was very fond of drink when he would go to town. He used to go to Ennis every Saturday in an ass car. Sometimes he used to sleep on the car on his way home, but the ass was so accustomed to the road that he used always come home to the gate. But on one occasion, the man was so drunk he was both stupid and asleep and did not waken for some time after coming, so there were a few fellows, who found the man and the ass and car out side the gate and they said they would play a good trick on him. So they took him down off the car very easily and brought him into his own house. They then took the ass from the car and brought in the ass into the house. Then they took the wheels from the car and brought in the car also. They put the wheels under the car inside in the house. They then yoked the ass to the car again and put the man up on the car, he being asleep all the while. They went away and latched the door and when the man awoke
