  1. Some years ago there lived a Ayle, a place near Feakle in East Clare, a woman named Biddie Early, who could cure any disease without having seen the patient. She affected her cures by the aid of a magic bottle.
    One day this woman was going to Ennis and she went into Richard Duffy's licensed premises at Spancilhill, which is about four miles north east of Ennis. While she was there, the wind blew the dust along the road. She asked Richard Duffy to look through the bottle, but he would not. Then looking through it herself, she said: "Look at all the ladies and gentlemen on horseback" and a host of fairies passed by in the cloud of dust.
    A man from Feakle went to her one day to cure his son who was dying. She told him to put new panes of glass in one of his windows and that his son would be all right. The man did as he was told and his son got better.
    A certain cure for a toothache is to put
