    Once upon a time there was a great frost in Ireland. The lakes and rivers were frozen. There were many people skating on the frozen lakes. There were two girls and one boy skating on a frozen lake one day. The boy was bad friends with one of the girls. Her name was Nora. The two girls went saying out to the middle of the lake. The ice broke and Nora went down. The boy saw her disappearing through the ice he ran to her and saved her.

    There was a farmer once, who was living by himself. One day he was working with a neighbour helping him to put in his hay. He worked hard all day and returned home after eating his supper. He was just preparing to go to
