He was the most famous horse-dealer of all. People named Cassidy's from Cox`s mill were great horse dealers in their time and lived were Mr. Cooney now resides. The great stabling accommodation which was once used to the full can be seen to this day.

There are fairs in Carrickmacross, Castleblayney, Ballybay, and Shercock and they are all monthly. The fairs are held in towns nowadays but long ago there used to be fairs(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
