   Ye bards of the nation
   And sons of old Erin
   Come join me in deep consternation
   for a hero of fame
   Noble Murray his name
   A friend of this dear Irish nation
   By the gods was envied
   The sweet seas he enjoyed
   And he said they were fairer than Juno,
   But the shades of Columbus
   Could never compare
   With the beautiful shores of Loughooney

   On last Sunday morning
   Bright Phoebus adorning
   The little birds sang so melodious,
   Say Murray to Mc Adam
   "We'll both have a sail
   In my pleasure boat rigged out commodious
   His consort had sought him
   To tarry that day
   For the morning appeared wild
