- A judge in Clones Court was rather fond of solving riddles.
A murderer, before arrest, entered a garden where he saw a horse's skull in the eye socket of which a robin had built a nest which contained six young birds.
The judge made a bargain with the accused.
"You give me a riddle, that I can't answer," said he "and I'll let you go free."
To this the murderer replied,
"Out I went and in I came,
Death I saw and life therein,
Six I caught and seventh got free.
Riddle me that and hanged I'll be."Report says that the murderer was set free.- Faisnéiseoir
