  1. Old Graveyards
    In the parish there are two graveyards which are still being used. One is surrounding the Church in Carrowleigh and the other around the Old Church in Rathgormack.

    The Old Churchyard:
    The old churchyard is situated in the townland of Rathgormack about a quarter of a mile north of the village. It is near the old Norman castle and must have been built by the Normans.
    The graveyard is sloping up to the ruins of the Church of which some of the walls still remain. There is one grave walled in near the Church. There are elm trees and crab trees growing around the graveyard and box trees growing within it. It is three cornered in shape and contains about an acre of ground.
    The part below the gate is called the Strangers Corner.

    Carrowleigh:
    The graveyard in Carrowleigh is around the churchyard about two hundred yards north of the village. The graveyard is of an oblong shape and is level. There are three tombs in it one in which a priest is
