Ar an leathanach seo
- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)the sea when they met an iceberg. It dashed the ship to pieces and all that were in the ship were drowned. Several times the ship has been looked for since and it cannot be found. Neither can the place where the ship got dashed to pieces be found.
There was a shipwreck in Quilty about thirty years ago, in the year 1907. The Leon was the name of it. She was carrying a load of wheat. A storm rose and they passing Loop Head. The rigging got broken down by the storm and the captain and crew lost control of the ship. She headed for Quilty shore. She got wedged between two rocks. The people gathered in thousands along the shore to see the disaster. The Quilty fisherman lowered their boats and went on sea, but in vain, to rescue the captain and the crew. The sailors threw rafts on the sea. Boyle, Forhan, and Dowd went a second time to sea and rescued the crew and brought them safely to land. They went a third time to sea and rescued the captain who had to remain on board until the others had been landed safely. They were entertained by the people of Quilty. Some of them were unconscious when they came to land. After a time they returned(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
