- St Senan is the patron Saint of this district. St Senan was a Saint who used travel on horse back. Once upon a time his horse strayed away from him. St Senan followed the horse from the west and he came along between Coolmeen and Cranny. He inquired along the way if any one had seen his horse but no one had. He had a big sheep dog and staff along with him. When he came to Coolmeen hill the dog ran up the hill and St Senan followed him. When he got to the top of the hill he knelt down on a rock. He prayed that the horse may stick to the ground where ever he was. After a while he heard her neighing near the shore. The print of St Senan's knees(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
