Garryclogher River
A stream rises in the Galtee mountains near Coles and flows through the country until it reaches Garryclogher.
It goes under ground near Burk's. It flows five miles under ground and rises up again near Ardfinnan.
The place where it rises is called "The roaring well".
The (English) soldiers in the Military Barracks were anxious to know where it rose again.
The officers put men watching in several places. They threw in chaff at Garryclogher and it came out near Ardfinnan near the river Suir.
