About four miles from Nenagh there was a man named "Paddy Pretty" living in a little house. Cromwell and his men went into him one night. They asked him had he anything to give them, He said he had nothing to give them, but a pot of porridge he had cooked for his supper. They asked him if he had any milk. He told them he had two goats and he brought them in and milked them. He then gave them the porridge and the milk. When they had it finished they took the man out to a big hill. They told him he could keep all the land he could see around him. This is the way in which Lord de Nally got all the land which he has now.
