  1. Songs Composed about Places Around my District (ar lean)

The Barrel Rocks:- Come all you jolly mariners give ear into my song,

    (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)
Our good ship tight and sound.
    (4)
The first shock we did suffer
    For mercy we did call,
The second shock our good ship got,
Down in the deep went all.
A violent surf upon the rocks,
    My mangled corpse dir throw,
    Whilst all my brave companions
    Lay in the deep below.
    (5)
I was taken down to sweet Schull town
    Where I was safely moved,
Where I was clad and sheltered,
And my health it was restored,
'Till I got a berth on board the Spree
    Where no I safely lie,
And the boys of Schull i won't forget,
    Until the day I'll die.
The above song composed by the late Dan O'Driscoll, a teacher of Dunbeam, on the wreck of the Lady Charlotte, on the Barrel Rocks, when all were lost, save one. This happened about sixty years ago.
The Barrel Rocks are a sunken group of rocks about half-a-mile south of Larne Castle.
