- I have often heard it said that there is a cure in everything that grows through the ground if people only knew how to use the different herbs.
In olden times nearly all people treated their ailments with herbs. The DANDELION which grows everywhere around here was used for all liver complaints. It is taken from the roots, and the leaks washed and put in a saucepan of cold water, brought to the boil and allowed to simmer slowly for a few hours, and then allowed to cool before it is used. A wineglass full should be taken before breakfast and two or three times during the day. Most of the herbs are used in this way. It is also very good for a sluggish liver or jaundice. Its juicy milk is very good for curing warts.
WILD SAGE grows on rocky and mountainous places. This is also boiled and used like the dandelion, and is much valued for nerve pains. It is a very good tonic. The month of May is the best time to use sage.
