- The farm animals in my home are cows, calves, a donkey, a pony, hens, chickens, a dog and a cat. Our cows are called Polly, Blue, Daisy and Lily. When driving the cows in or out of a field you say "How up" to calves suck! suck!
The cow-house is white-washed inside and has two half-doors. It is called a byre. The cows are tied by the neck with chains to stakes. Cows' legs are often tied with ropes to keep them from kicking.
The Local names for tyings are chains, bales and trammels. When milking cows that kick people whistle and sing to keep them from kicking. When calling hens you say "Tuk! Tuk!" and Tweet! Tweet! for turkeys. When setting eggs for hatching marked(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
