  1. If we had been asked to collect folk-lore a few years ago, we could have got a great deal more than we can now, for in the last few years two very fine story- tellers died around Mullagh. They were related, too, both of the O'Reilly clan, who are very intelligent people in Cavan.
    The one best-known in Mullagh was called by everyone "Pat, the bard". No on ever called him anything else. He deserved the name, too, as he could make rhymes about every thing and could remember old rhymes and stories and repeat them better than anyone else.
    He told stories prinicipally of witch-craft-butter being taken of the neighbour's churns, and such things as that. The fairies, too, were a
