Ar an leathanach seo
- The people of long ago were very healthy and had beautiful, clean white teeth. Their eating of hard oaten-meal bread may account for this. They never ate white bread, as we do now, but always oaten-meal bread.
They made it in this way:-
They mixed about a plateful of oaten meal with boiling water, well. They, then, rolled it out very thinly and put it on a griddle before a slow fire and baked it well - until the crusts were quite hard.
Then, they served it hot or cold, if desired, with plenty of butter and very sweet it was to eat.
Indeed, if these old customs of bread-making were still continued, the people would very seldom need a doctor or dentist. They would be(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
