  1. Mullagh considers it a proud honour that St. Kilian, one of the greatest of Irish saints, was born in the parish. It is not absolutely certain that he was a native of Mullagh but tradition has clung to that fact for centuries and no other place has claimed him and some very old verses point to the fact that he was born on the banks of the Borora, in the year 640.
