   They kept feast days such as Christmas and Easter and they would buy a stone of flour for to make flour bread for those two days. They did not eat any eggs the whole year round, but when Easter came they ate about a dozen eggs at a time. Tea only began to be used about eighty years ago.

   While cutting turf in Annaharnate bog, Killinkere, the Mallon brothers found an ancient sandal or shoe at a depth of fourteen feet. Beside it were the cinders of a timber fire. Over all was a layer of bog material to a height of fourteen
