Until quite recently a great heap or mound of stones occupied a considerable portion of the North end of the graveyard,these were removed about the year 1935 and broken up for road metal but from the shapes of the stones,many of which were completely covered with moss,it was quite evident that they had at some period been dressed as quoins for some,not inconsiderable edifice.
Mr.O’Connell found The Will of a Dr.McDonagh Bishop of Kilmore in a monastery in Portugal. The Will is written in Irish and directed that the remains of Dr.McDonagh be taken (if possible) and buried in the chapel of Munterconnaught or in the graveyard surrounding it. Dr.McDonagh died 1746 and his remains are buried in Lisbon.
