- One of the oldest customs in this country is going round with the wren on St. Stephens Day. The song sung is:-
"The wren the wren the king of all birds, St. Stephens Day was caught in the furze. Up with the kettle and down with the pan, give me some money to bury the wren".
On St Brigids Day every household gets candles blessed. On St Patricks Day we celebrate the feast of St. Patrick. All the Irish people wear shamrocks on that day. Everyone eats pancakes on Shrove Tuesday.
On Ash Wednesday ashes are blessed and put on to(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
