Things were bought, and on the following day an odd house sold these articles at a very cheap rate. A shop might be set up the next Wednesday or there might be another.
Money was not given in exchange for these articles, but hens or geese or a day's or a few day's work. Buying and selling was not carried on after mass on Sundays but it was carried on, on Holydays after mass.
