Tying an old boot to the motor car in which the bride and bridegroom go for their honeymoon is supposed to bring good luck. Throwing confetti or rice on the bride when she comes out of church is also observed as a lucky custom.
They say it is unlucky for the bride to see the groom in the morning before the wedding.

The birds most common in this district are robin, wren, crow, blackbird, pigeon and sparrow. The robin builds in a mossy bank and lines it with moss and wool. She lays four or five spotted eggs.
The crow builds in a high branchy tree. She makes a rough nest of sticks.
The pigeon builds in a dale tree. She makes a rough nest and lays two eggs.
The blackbird builds a nest with clay and fine twigs in a hawthorn bush. The young birds are called "scaldies". She lays five blue spotted eggs.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
