- In this locality there are not many historic places. The most historic place if "Mhaghail Sleacht" or "The Plain of Adoration" which is a high hill in the townland of Darraugh. On this hill the famous pagan idol Crom Cruagh stood and was destroyed by St. Patrick in four hundred and thirty-five while on his mission in Ireland. On the top of the hill there is a small round field on which the idol is believed to have stood. The Mud Hole is a name given to a spring well in Porturlan. The well is in a bog beside a large bog-hole the water of which often flows into the well. The Round Hill is a name given to a round field in Comagh. It is fairly high and all the downland of Burren can be seen from it. There are two lone-bush fields in the downland of Gorton. One is called the "Bush Mountain" and the other is called the "Bush Park". At Killycliggen on the way to Ballyconnell there are fields called "The Rocky Fields"(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
