- Signs of rain are as follows:-
When the hills look near. If a rainbow is seen in the morning. The soot falls down the chimney. Little flakes of soot called "soldiers" stick to the bars of the grate. The hens pick themselves and the ducks quack. The peacocks cry and the curlews call.
Signs of a storm are as follows:-
When the blue flame rises and makes a noise in the fire. When the sky appears red in the evening. The sound of the sea roaring.
Signs of fine weather are as follows:-
The frog has on a yellow coat. The robin sits on a bush and sings. The sky is red in the east. A rainbow in the evening.
The above signs were told me by my father John Timmons. - When the dust is blowing on the road there is going to be a storm.
