  1. There lived once a woman and she had only one son. They were very poor. There was a big wicked giant living in that land. One day as the boy was out working he was given a bag of beans to set behind the house. He went home and told his mother what he had got for his pay. She asked him (y) why he did not get money. He said that he was given the bean. She was so angry that she took the bag of beans and pegged them out through the window. Then she pegged a chair at him and put him to bed. The next day the house seemed very dark. He got up and liiked out through the window and saw all the trees outside. He got dressed and went out to climb the trees. When he had gone to the top of the tree he was in an other world. Then he walked along and came to a house and went up to the door and asked for food. Then an old woman came to the door and brought him in. The boy drank two jugs of milk and ate six loaves
