    Historical Tradition
    There was once a village between Johnstown and Coolgreany. It was called Whitesandtown. People say that it was a big village. Cromwell's army passed through it. They received a poor welcome and many dies believed to have been slaughtered. They afterwards levelled the village to the ground. There is a little graveyard to the west of the scene of the battle - It is called Cronygall. Perhaps some of Cromwell's Soldiers were buried there.
