Ar an leathanach seo
- The ruins of an old school is to be seen in the townland. It is situated in a place called the "cuts". The "cuts" is a short "cut" from on side of the glen to the other. It is about fifty years since the roof fell in. The masters were natives of the place. School was held in the farmers' houses.
The people whom they taught paid (him.) them.
They taught Reading, Writing and Arithmetic.
Irish was unknown in the district.
The masters had their own books.
Writing was down on slates with slate pencils.
The teachers remained for long periods in each district.
The pupils who attended these schools were excellent writers
An old flat stone often served as a desk.
This is still to be seen.
