  1. Hedge Schoolmaster.
    Told by Mr. Thos. Lambert (see p. 7)
    There was a hedge schoolmaster named McGuire, who used to go around to different houses a couple of nights each week, and teach the children. That was about the year 1883. Some of the houses he taught in were, Finlay's of Ballytoole, Wilsons of Ballintruer, Plants of Lower Castleruddery and Finlays of Ballinabarney.
    He was a very lame man and he had one short leg, which left it very hard for him to travel from place to place.
