- Newtown Park, Blessington is my Parish. There are eight families in the district. Jones, Cullens, Lyons, Cooleys, Horans, Humphreys, Broes and Cooks. Newtown it was said was burned by the Black and Tans in 1922.The land is level and is very good for agricultural products in this area. The dwelling houses are tiled and slated and most of the out offices are thatched or have galvanised iron on them. The is one old family in the district called Lyons. Both people are over eighty years. The river Liffey is the only river than nears our district. A stream called Seilg na nGadhar in Moin Fíon bog nears our house also.It is said that a Leprechaun used to haunt a place called Rathurkle. It is a small valley on the Deer Park. The story is told by my father during the Winter evenings.Once my uncle and father were walking on the hill of Rathurkle. It was a moonlight night and they were hunting rabbits, when suddenly they saw a little man sitting against the trunk of a tree. They could hear him tapping like a shoemaker, so they knew he was a Leprechaun and stole up quietly. My father(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
