- The cure for whooping cough is to go under a donkey's legs, and over his back three times. There is a well in Mrs Connellens field which is said to cure pains. Several people went there, and were cured.

Some people would give bread to a donkey to eat, and any bits he would let drop out of his mouth they would be carefully picked up, and given to the child that would have the cough.
