    Ballyshane
    The name of my townland is Ballyshane. It is in the barony of Bally-Britt and in the parish of Kinnitty. There are three families in it. There are two families of Carry's. There are seventeen people in it. Two Carry's went to England and two more to America.
    There were many more families long ago in it. Croziers and Taylors and Shanahans were living in Michael Carry's land. The ruins of Taylor's house is to be seen yet, and Croziers also.
    It is about half mile from Kinnitty on the south side. Baile-Seáin is the Irish name which means John's Place. The principal crops sown are potatoes, turnips, oats, wheat and mangolds. There are two slated houses and one thatched house with zinc over the thatch.
