On Candlemas Day the old people say 'Candlemas day put the candlestick away.' Long ago they used not have lights in the evenings were getting long and candles and lamps were not as plentiful as nowadays.
St Patrick's Day:
Before going to mass each person get a spray of shamrock and puts it in his coat. Sometimes the men wear the shamrock on their hats. The children often wear harps.
Easter Sunday:
Many children get up early to see the sun dancing. Everyone eats as many eggs as he is able. Long ago games were played with eggs. They used roll them down a hill. Nowadays children buy Easter eggs in a shop.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
