If a hen crows, and you get her and put her across three stone walls, and if she comes back across them again you will have good luck, but if she does not, you will have bad luck.
If a hatching of eggs comes out a few days before they are due, it is very lucky.
It is also a great sign of good luck, if a hen or duck hatches out, and brings in a young clutch to you.
Eggs are generally put down for hatching on a Friday, and they must be put down by the woman of the house herself.
When a woman is setting eggs she usually puts down an uneven number for luck.
A crowing hen is considered unlucky, and the woman of the house usually catches her and kills her.
Swallows building under the eaves are lucky, and it is very unlucky to knock down a swallow's nest.
