Ar an leathanach seo
- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)day, if they were able to afford it and if not they used to bring him his lunch. The children were taught mostly in the open air and when the master got cross with them they sometimes ran home. You could not puzzle them in sums or spellings.
The name of the master who taught in this Hedge School in Clonascra, was Mr. Gerrety from Ballyhearth. He sometimes went into a house on his way home for a bit to eat. as he used to be exhausted for he had bad feet and was not used to walking.
The remains of some of this old school can be seen yet as the stones are scattered through the field. In those Hedge School sthe children were taught form a double spelling(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
