There is a large hollow situated about a quarter of a mile from where I live called "Stirabout Hollow" and how it got this name was.
One night a man from Creevagh was visiting in Shannon-bridge. When he was returning home at a very late hour by this big hollow a thick mist arose and he could'nt see his way. After some time he saw a great light in the hollow and a lot of little men dressed in red, dancing and singing. He was not long looking on however, when an old man that he knew was dead years before in Creevagh came over to (mor) him and brought him down into the hollow.
