There is a large hollow situated about a quarter of a mile from where I live called "Stirabout Hollow" and how it got this name was.
One night a man from Creevaugh was visiting in Shannon-bridge. When he was returning home at a very late hour by this big hollow a thick mist arose and he couldn't see his way. After some time he saw a great light in the lollow and a lot of little men dressed in red dancing and singing. He was not long looking on however, when an old man that he knew was dead years before in Creevaugh came over to him and brought him down into the hollow. The fairies then stopped dancing and they asked him to share their supper of stirabout which they were eating. The man refused and the
