Tullamore Token.
we had a very interesting lecture today on a Tullamore token.
The shape of the Tullamoore token is round and the size of a crown.
it is one and a half inches across. Before English money was used in Ireland the token was used as money. The Tullamoore token was made up in the Charleville castle in the year 1802.
It is made of bronze, tin and copper mixed together.
Round the edge on one side is written "One shilling and one penny", and under that there is a bunch of shamrocks. Under the shamrocks is written "Payable at Tullamoore first Tuesday in each (every) month.
