- The Local Thatcher. In the townland of Drannagh Eniscorthy there was a thatcher named Paddy Furlong. He was a good thatcher and many people employed him to thatch dwelling houses. He always carried a bag of his own thatching tools. His employer supplied him with straw. There was a another thatcher in Drannagh and Furlong and the other thatcher were often employed by one man to thatch two houses. Furlong on one house and the other thatcher on the other. They would have a bet which wold be done first.this story was told by James Bowe, aged 43 years.
