    (1) The Daphne Castle.
The Daphne Castle is situated one mile south-west of Enniscorthy. It was once owned by a family named Jameson, Marconi the wireless inventor (who) was a decendent of this family. In the eighteenth century it was believed a crock of gold was hidden there guarded by the fairies. In those days if a person dreamed about the gold three nights in succession it was certain to be in the place dreamed of.
A man named Jack Murphy known in the locality as "Jack the Devil" and three others decided to dig for the gold. The conditions to obtain the gold were a ball of yarn, five forked hazel pegs, and a bottle of holy-water. The pegs were stuck in the ground in the shape of a ring around where the gold was hidden. The yarn was wound around each peg, the holy-water was sprinkled on the yarn to keep bad people away while they were digging.
They rought a cock to take its life. Near midnight they struck a flag which was always believed to be on top of the crock. They were about to raise the flag when the cock crowed. The crowing frightened them and they ran away and never attempted to dig for the gold again.
