- 135The Potato CropWhen the potatoes are going to be sown the ground is ploughed, harrowed and drilled. When the ground is drilled the farmers put manure in the drills and spread it. Then they sow the potatoes and cover them.
When the potatoes are big enough to be dug the farmers dig them out with a plough or a potato digger.
There has to be a sprout on the seed potato or they will not grow. Sometimes the seed potatoes are put in boxes and sprouts grow on them.Name. George Lett.
