    The favourite bread of the old people was known as Griddle bread. It was made of barley meal ground locally. The meal was mixed with water. Soda was unknown at that time. The griddle had ony one lug and lay slanting on the fire + was hung by a wire. When baked it was hard + flat but it was the favourite bread of the old people.
    Boxty bread was another well liked bread in this district. It was made on great and memorable days, like marriage days etc. It was made from wheaten meal + potatoes. First the potato
