  1. I live in the townsland of Ballyboggan just outside the village of Castlebridge which is in the Parish of Ardcavan and the Barony of Shelmalier East. The place in which I live is "Butlerstown".
The name Baile-Bogán means the homestead or townsland of "Boggan".
In the whole townsland there are about thirty three families with about an average of five people in every house.
There are upwards of one hundred and sixty five people in the townsland.
Nearly everybody in it is a Murphy and each family is distinguished by a nickname of its own or by calling the family after the mother's maiden name.
